Caitlin O'Riordan

Caitlin joined the LCAD Lab as a post-doctoral visitor in May 2023, working with Dr. Bialystok from the LCAD lab and Dr. Pathman from the Memory Development Learning and Brain Lan (MDLaB). Her research currently utilises both behavioural and neuroimaging techniques (EEG/ERP) to study the effects of language experience on attention, memory and cognition more broadly.

Caitlin completed her undergraduate degree at Bangor University, Wales UK and completed her MSc in Psychological Research at Bangor University with a placement at Humboldt-Universitat, Berlin, Germany. Caitlin received her PhD in Psychology and Bilingualism from Bangor University in 2023 whilst working with Prof. Debbie Mills at the Bangor Brain and Cognitive Development Lab. Her thesis titled "The effect of bilingualism on cognitive control resources in younger and older adults " was funded by the Economic Social Research Council, and employed behavioural and EEG/ERP methodologies to investigate the influence of language experience and exercise on cognitive processes related to inhibition and attention in Welsh-English bilingual younger and older adults.

In recognition of her commitment to student-led teaching and pedagogical practices, Dr. O'Riordan has been awarded a Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
Currently serving as the course director for the undergraduate 3rd-year memory course at York University, Dr. O'Riordan also contributes to the academic community by peer-reviewing for language journals.
